Acquisitions, LLC (UM&A), was established in 1998 in response to what we observed as a
need in the Engineering and Environmental Consulting market. As this market has contracted
it has become more competitive and price sensitive; smaller companies find themselves with
good contract backlogs and market presence but an uncertain future. Without significant
market repositioning, management restructuring and the infusion of cash these small
companies are unable to continue growth or even hold their own. Large companies are
rapidly consolidating and looking for market share. The small companies have prospered but
realize that now is the time to find an appropriate suitor. For companies in the market to
make an acquisition the potential for excellent small and mid-size companies to be
overlooked is high and at the same time, the opportunity to throw money away acquiring a
poor company is also very high. There is need for a knowledgeable, market wise, and
connected company to provide brokering services for these companies both large and small
to find the appropriate match so they can move into the next millennium and be successful.
